(TheRedWire.com) – On Tuesday, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) brought forward impeachment articles against Vice President Kamala Harris as the GOP increased its attacks on her following the launch of her presidential campaign.
The filing is a further expansion on previous impeachment articles introduced which are specifically targeting Harris over her immigration record. In the second article he added to the filing, Ogles claims that Harris has been covering up President Joe Biden’s mental state which is a “breach of public trust.”
On Sunday, President Joe Biden announced that he is dropping out of the presidential race and endorsed Harris as the next Democratic nominee. However, despite exiting the presidential race he has decided that he is going to be finishing his term in office and has claimed to be in good health.
In the filing, it is argued that Harris had misled Americans and Congress by not reporting on the cognitive and physical state of the United States President.
The original impeachment articles against Harris had been filed on June 12, 2023, and state that Harris has appeared to be incompetent in executing her responsibilities and duties as she has not upheld immigration law. This has resulted in a crisis in the U.S. Southern border. There was also a reference to Harris’s unofficial title as the “border czar” which had been given to her in the early days of the Biden administration when she had been tasked with looking at the core issues that were causing migration and establishing diplomacy with Central American countries.
