(TheRedWire.com) – On Tuesday, failed Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake claimed that former President Donald Trump deserved to receive a Nobel Peace Prize. Lake’s most recent comments in support of Trump came after The Federalist published a new piece by Abraham Hamadeh. Both Lake and Hamadeh had lost races in Arizona in the 2022 election despite Trump endorsing their candidacy.
Both have often claimed their elections were stolen and attempted to contest the election results in court. While Lake had lost to Katie Hobbs, Democrat, by close to 17,000 votes, Hamadeh had lost his race by less than 300 votes. Still, it meant that Democrat Kris Mayes became the attorney general instead of him.
In his piece, Hamadeh claims that the Abraham Accords, brokered during the Trump administration, should be enough for Trump to receive a Nobel Peace Prize. The Middle East peace accord had been signed in 2020 and initially meant that the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain recognized Israel as a sovereign state. Two more countries, Morocco and Sudan, joined the accords later.
In 2020, Trump had been nominated for the award for his participation in brokering the agreement. However, he had lost to the United Nations’ World Food Programme. Hamadeh argued that the Nobel Prize Foundation would have given them the award if it had been anyone other than Trump. He further claimed that the decision not to give it to Trump was damaging the award’s credibility.
In a post on X, Lake supported this statement, pointing out that Hamadeh is correct in his assessment.
