(TheRedWire.com) – Over the last year, House Democrats began making subjective decisions to boot several Republicans off of committees. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and House Democratic leaders removed Reps. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for allegedly threatening members of Congress and making bigoted statements. In the meantime, Pelosi allowed numerous Democrats to remain on committees despite perpetrating similar infractions or worse.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said if Republicans win the House in November as expected, there will be changes. He added that for the first time ever, the majority party is picking and choosing which minority members can serve on a committee. The minority leader stated the following three people will get booted from their respective committees if he becomes Speaker of the House:
- Ilhan Omar (D-MN) currently serves on the Foreign Affairs Committee. In 2020 and 2021, she came under fire for anti-Semitic statements. Pelosi refused to censor her directly and instead called for a broad condemnation of all forms of hate.
- Eric Swalwell (D-CA) sits on the Intelligence Committee. McCarthy said Swalwell was unable to acquire a security clearance in the private sector and had an alleged affair with a Chinese spy.
- Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) also serves on the Intelligence Committee. From 2017 to 2019, Schiff used a knowingly fake dossier and lied to the American people about Donald Trump’s Russian collusion narrative.
Stay tuned. McCarthy could target other Democrats worthy of being removed from their committees.
