(TheRedWire.com) – Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., and Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., were part of a heated but friendly debate in front of the Capitol on Wednesday. The two lawmakers started their debate over who had the best chance of winning the presidential election in 2024. Donalds was an adamant supporter of either former President Donald Trump or Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., winning the White House. On the other hand, Bowman said that President Biden would easily win his reelection campaign and serve another four years in the White House.

The impromptu debate started only minutes after Bowman alleged that DeSantis was a “white supremacist.” Donalds was quick to respond it was not the case though. He further added that Biden had no chance of beating either GOP frontrunner.

Bowman further argued that if Biden decided not to run in 2024 Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, D-Mich would easily beat both Trump and DeSantis in 2024.

The debate continued with the two men in front of the Capitol speaking to reporters. Donalds started his argument by saying that in his state there were two people who could become president, but he didn’t “know about New York.” In response, Bowman laughed and questioned who would become the President in his state. He then continued by saying about DeSantis that “He’s a nationalist. He’s a White supremacist. He’s anti-gay, he’s anti-woman, he’s anti-Black. There’s no way he can be president.”

Donalds however responded by saying that this was just political noise made by the Democrats.
