(TheRedWire.com) – A social media post showing police officers lining up to take a selfie with former President Donald Trump has received a lot of backlash online. Dan Scavino, one of Trump’s 2024 senior campaign advisors and who had previously served as the White House deputy chief of staff, posted a video on Sunday which showed the officers from different law enforcement agencies on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport waiting for Trump to emerge. Once Trump exits the vehicle, he is greeted by applause from the crowd.

Trump then takes photos with many officers in front of his private jet while shaking their hands and taking selfies.

The video posted by Scavino led to much criticism, with many questioning why police officers on duty were using this opportunity to take photos with Trump. Christopher Webb took to Twitter to point out that the cops in Los Angeles were taking pictures with Trump on “taxpayer’s dime.” This tweet has over 90,000 views.

Tennessee election commissioner Chris D. Jackson also pointed out that they should not be allowed to participate in such a political activity while on duty. This action constitutes a violation of “taxpayer dollars.”

Other Twitter users were also outraged about the display. Trump responded to the controversy by arguing that Trump was the “law and order President” and, as such, he was the only one who could help bring safety to communities across the country. The incident occurred after Trump’s latest indictment on 37 counts last month.
