(TheRedWire.com) – On Saturday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) during a Fox News interview argued that he was hoping former President Donald Trump would pick Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) arguing that there was “some chemistry there.”

Graham proceeded to say that having been around both of them, Tim is really interested in helping the former President win back the White House. Scott, who had been running in the 2024 presidential race, suspended his own campaign in November and endorsed Trump last month. Since then he has frequently appeared with Trump on the campaign trail.

Many of former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley’s allies have questioned this move, considering her role in Scott winning his current position.
Graham claimed that Scott would be the “right choice” because he was “ready to be president.” He added that this was the most crucial thing for the president’s running mate.

This week during a Greenville, S.C., town hall even Trump revealed the shortlist of candidates he is considering as possible options for his vice president. Apart from Scott the list also included South Dakota Gov. Kristie Neom (R), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. Trump has argued that all of these candidates were “solid.”

Graham had claimed that Trump had many good options but that he was hoping that he would pick Scott, as there was no doing “better than” him. He then pointed out that from a conservative perspective he was “solid” in every possible way.
