Marco Rubio Is Trailing His Democrat Opponent in the Polls

Marco Rubio SHOCKER – Shocking News Released!

(TheRedWire.com) – Florida voters will head to the polls in the state’s primary election on Tuesday, August 23. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) has no GOP challenger and will square off with the Democratic nominee. Political analysts widely expect Val Demmings to win the Democratic primary. In a new shock poll released by the University of North Florida’s Public Opinion Research Lab, the potential challenger is leading the Senator 48% to 44%, with 7% of voters undecided about who they’ll vote for in November.

Still, the survey could be an outlier. Few polls exist on the race, and the RealClearPolitics average shows Rubio with a 5.8-point lead. The Senator’s campaign spokeswoman, Elizabeth Gregory, said they weren’t concerned by the survey. She said it would come down to his proven record versus Demming’s record of failure.

Additionally, there are other questions the shock poll can’t explain. Over the last few years, Republican registrations in Florida exploded. Likewise, last fall, the GOP outnumbered Democratic voters for the first time. By the end of May, they increased their lead by 176,000. By the end of July, POLITICO said it could have topped 200,000. In addition, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis holds a wide lead over his opponents in RealClearPolitics.

So, is the survey an outlier? Will DeSantis pull Rubio over the top in the solid deep red state?

We’ll find out this fall.
