Mayor Pete DODGES Inflation Questions – Stimulus Checks To Blame?

(TheRedWire.com) – It’s not uncommon when politicians who favor policies don’t have answers to support them. In 2021, former Clinton Treasury Secretary Larry Summers and former Obama Treasury official Steven Rattner blamed the spark igniting inflation on Democrats’ insistence on passing the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Act with a party-line vote. If that weren’t enough, the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank came to the same conclusion. Yet, on Tuesday, May 10, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg wouldn’t say whether the law that gave away untold billions of dollars in free stimulus checks contributed to inflation.

CNN host Don Lemon asked Buttigieg directly and unambiguously if he agreed with the San Francisco federal reserve’s conclusion. Buttigieg never directly answered the question. Instead, he danced around it. The Secretary said the country was at risk of massive jobs losses when Democrats in Congress passed the legislation in March 2021, despite arguments to the contrary at the time.

Still, Lemon pushed back and asked if the legislation contributed to inflation. Buttigieg danced again and argued historians would debate in the future what happened during this time. For now, he said the government needs to focus on the tools it has to help people.

So, you decide… did Buttigieg dodge the question?
