Michigan Woman Arrested After Attempting to Hire Assassin

(TheRedWire.com) – Sometimes relationships deteriorate so severely they end in horrible divorces. Then there’s this: sometimes, a spouse wants their partner or ex-spouse dead. In July 2020, 52-year-old Wendy Wein went online and found Rent-A-Hitman. She filled out all the information requested on the website and put down $200 towards a $5,000 payment to have her ex-husband murdered.

There was just one problem. It wasn’t a real website. The name of the website and the fact it’s online should’ve tipped her off, but it didn’t. The website exists to catch people like Wein, who pay people to murder their ex-spouses.

The fictional person Wein was working with was really an alter ego. Bob Innes created the website to catch those looking to solicit murders and then forward serious requests to law enforcement officials. Innes said he offers people 24 hours to cool down before contacting the police.

On July 17, 2020, undercover agents with the Michigan State Police arranged to meet Wein in a parking lot, where they arrested her. In November, she pled guilty to solicitation for murder and the use of a computer to commit a crime. She faces up to nine years in prison. A judge will impose sentencing on January 13, 2022.
