(TheRedWire.com) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has created a firestorm over the January 6 Capitol Hill riot. Pelosi refused to allow Reps. Jim Banks (R-IN) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) to serve on the new Select Committee investigating the incident due to their different perspectives than hers and the Democrats. The Speaker alleges that Donald Trump caused the riot. Republicans allege pent-up frustration over how numerous Democratic governors conducted the 2020 elections, and Democrat’s unwillingness to alleviate those frustrations contributed to the horrific event. After Pelosi seated anti-Trump Republicans Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) on the commission, Banks fired back at Pelosi.

The Indiana conservative said that Pelosi is only interested in adding those on the commission who align with her partisan views and will stick to the narrative. Banks added that as Speaker of the House, Pelosi controls the Capitol police and doesn’t want questions raised that could threaten her credibility and perspective. Banks stated that Pelosi is ultimately responsible for what happened on January 6. Therefore, she’s handpicking committee members who are likely to remain committed to her viewpoint instead of seeking the truth, whatever it might be.
