New Poll Leaves Democrats FLOORED – Minority Vote Flips!

DeSantis Pulls Ahead of Crist With Hispanic Voters

DeSantis Pulls Ahead of Crist With Hispanic Voters

( – Over the last year, several polls revealed Hispanic voters were moving away from the Democratic Party towards Republicans. The shift has caused anxiety among some Democrats as they had hoped for decades to build a lasting coalition among Hispanics that would deliver majorities for years to come. Yet, it hasn’t happened as they had hoped.

In Texas, Hispanic Republican Rep. Mayra Flores (R-TX) flipped a long-held Democratic seat in June. In Nevada, Latino voters could flip the US Senate seat and governorship held by Democrats. In Florida, a new Telemundo/LX News poll says Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is winning the majority of them in the Sunshine State.

DeSantis Pulls Ahead With Hispanic Voters

In Florida, Latino votes, making up 19% of voters in the state, are vital to the success of any political candidate. In 2020, then-President Donald Trump outperformed his 2016 results with Hispanic voters, the fastest-growing block in the country. Some analysts believed Trump’s strong narrative around illegal immigration and his policies would hurt him with this group, but instead, it appeared to help.

DeSantis is running against former Florida Republican governor turned Democratic Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL). The Telemundo/LX News poll, which leans left, said Latino voters supported the Republican over his opponent 51% to 44%. They also gave DeSantis a 56% approval rating. In 2018, the-then GOP gubernatorial candidate lost the Hispanic vote despite winning the governor’s mansion.

Perhaps more surprisingly, they also supported DeSantis’ move to fly illegal immigrants from Texas to wealthy Democratic Martha’s Vineyard. The poll said Latinos favored his action 50% to 43%. On Monday, October 24, an NBC News poll showed Latino immigrants supported his effort 52% to 41%.

DeSantis Is Earning the Hispanic Vote

The Daily Wire reported that Mason-Dixon pollster Brad Coker said the governor’s personality and attitude had won over many Hispanics over the last few years. He said many of them really liked his style and that he wouldn’t back down. Coker also said Crist had “no mojo.”

DeSantis has grown into a top GOP presidential contender. In 2020 and 2021, he pushed back hard against Democrats and President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 policies. He was the first governor to lift COVID restrictions in September 2020 and fought against mask and vaccine mandates.

Regarding illegal immigration, DeSantis also pushed back hard against the Biden administration for flying undocumented immigrants from Texas to Florida under cover of night. Republican strategist Giancarlo Sopo told The Daily Wire that Democrats misunderstand Hispanic’s beliefs about illegal immigration. He noted too many think Latinos want uncontrolled mass migration but stated they couldn’t be more wrong on the issue.

So, will the GOP governor increase his vote total among Hispanics on November 8?

We’re about to find out.
