(TheRedWire.com) – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is fundraising following Tucker Carlson’s departure from Fox News.

In a message Punchbowl News obtained, Ocasio-Cortez’s team had sent out a message to her supporters stating that for years Carlson had been “viciously targeting women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community.” It further accuses Carlson of being “directly” involved in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack by inciting violence. The message also claims that since the start of his show in 2016, Carlson had been using hate speech, which is why his departure from Fox News was a positive step in the fight against hate speech.

They further note that “Alexandria directly challenges Tucker Carlson” and all those who express opinions similar to him that are still on the air. She is also calling them out for their “racism and misogyny,” and is promoting policies that will help increase inclusivity in the world.

Following Carlson’s departure from Fox News, many have criticized his previous comments, including his repeated downplaying of the violence and severity of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection. When the announcement of his departure came out, Ocasio-Cortez simply tweeted “Wow.” She then proceeded to make her accusations of Carlson and others inciting the violence that took place during the insurrection.

In their own statement, Fox News noted that the network and Carlson had “parted ways” and that his show on Friday was his last show. The news of his departure came only a few days after Fox reached a settlement with Dominion Voting Systems in the defamation lawsuit.
