Pelosi Downplays Ilhan Omar's Controversial Comments

(TheRedWire.com) – Imagine for one moment that a senior Republican lawmaker said something anti-Semitic. Can you hear it? The outrage from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) would be loud and clear. However, when it came from a Democrat with a long history of anti-Semitic language that could threaten to divide the Democratic Party, it was an entirely different story.

Last week, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) equated the United States and Israel with Hamas and the Taliban. On Sunday, June 13, Pelosi downplayed any notion of a division between Democratic leadership and the far-left Squad over Omar’s comments. Pelosi adamantly told CNN’s Dana Bash that the House did not rebuke the controversial Congresswoman.

The Speaker claims she and 11 other House Democrats simply asked her to clarify what she meant. After taking some heat from the Squad, Pelosi said, “They can say whatever they want.” On that note, she said it was the end of it as far as she was concerned. Separately, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) agreed that Democrats were moving on and that, ultimately, the party would come together.

Isn’t that interesting? Does anyone remember Pelosi or AOC giving the benefit of the doubt to former President Donald Trump or any other Republica?
