Pelosi Claims Democrats Want Her To Consider Another Term
(TheRedWire.com) – After the 2018 elections, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) promised she wouldn’t serve as a member of the Democratic leadership after the 2022 midterms. In the wake of the November 8 elections, House Democrats performed better than expected. That’s led to questions about Pelosi’s future. On Sunday, November 13, the lower chamber’s majority remained undecided. The Speaker appeared on numerous morning talk shows where she claimed Democrats wanted her to consider another term.
Pelosi said she would decide whether to pursue leadership among House Democrats within the next several weeks. They have set a schedule to approve their leaders on November 30. She stated it was a “beautiful thing” that people were championing her but stressed she wasn’t asking for anyone to do so.

Looking ahead to 2024, Pelosi said a lot was at stake ahead of the presidential election over the next two years. As she faced the likelihood that she would lose the majority on Sunday, the Speaker said she thought there was still a chance to maintain it. She noted few expected Democrats to be competitive, though they were.
Additionally, Pelosi said President Joe Biden should run for re-election in two years. She cited his legislative victories in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act. She also acknowledged the millions of jobs created under his watch after the pandemic job losses.
