Portland Rioters' Charges Dropped, Trump Supporters Remain Jailed

(TheRedWire.com) – Social justice protests devolved nationwide into violent riots beginning in 2020 with the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, supported by Antifa members. None of them were more serious or lasted as long as those in Portland, Oregon. The situation escalated to the point rioters clashed with federal agents whose sole purpose was to protect the federal courthouse and other federal property. Police and federal authorities arrested and charged nearly a hundred people with crimes against the federal government. However, it appears that President Joe Biden’s Justice Department has its priorities out of whack.

Federal prosecutors in Portland ended up dismissing 34 out of 90 felony and misdemeanor cases involving those protesters. The US Attorney for the District of Oregon estimated Antifa and BLM rioters caused over $2 million in damage to federal property. That doesn’t include state, county, or local government property destruction or damages to businesses and private property.

The news of the release of Antifa and BLM rioters comes as the federal government accuses untold numbers of Americans of insurrection against the federal government for their action or inaction during the January 6, 2021, riot on Capitol Hill. The government is holding several conservative Trump-supporting Americans in a Washington, DC, jail a year later with no apparent regard for their Constitutional rights, while prosecutors allow Leftist terrorists to walk away freely.

Some question if the Department of Justice is acting justly and fairly.
