Pro-Life Group Claims New Law Could Legalize Infanticide

(TheRedWire.com) – While pro-life groups continue to rack up wins in federal court, far-left states continue to expand the boundaries of abortion. In California, Democrats are leading the way. According to the nation’s first pro-life group, Right to Life League says the heavily Democratic-led state is expanding its abortion laws, and Gov. Gavin Newsom is keeping his promise to transform California into a sanctuary abortion state.

The Right to Life League claims California bill AB 2223 legalizes infanticide, which means the killing of a newborn baby. The pro-life group said the bill eliminates civil and criminal penalties for any woman who has an abortion up to the birth of a child. Under the law permitting late-term abortions, it would add perinatal death to the list of types of abortions. Perinatal is generally a term that defines the first month of life outside the womb.

AB 2223 may be one of the most extreme abortion laws ever enacted in the United States if the legislation becomes law. The bill would allow a mother to choose to end her child’s life as late as two months after birth, according to opponents. Depending on the definition of perinatal, the killing of a child could even extend further out than eight weeks. The federal government defines perinatal to extend 24 months past birth.
