(TheRedWire.com) – Jen Psaki, who hosts MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki” and previously served as White House Press Secretary, suggested former President Donald Trump was only drawing support from senior Republicans because “maybe he will die.”
Psaki made the comment implying Trump’s departure could be imminent while promoting her new book on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Tuesday, where she began her rant by praising Georgia’s former Republican Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan for his decision to support President Joe Biden.
Duncan announced he would support Biden over Trump in the upcoming Presidential elections.
As she continued her remarks, the former White House Press Secretary suggested that there was a group of senior Republicans whose sole support for Trump stemmed from their belief he’d “go away.”
Psaki proposed that many of those supporting Trump desire proximity to power and “assume” that Trump would “go away… go to jail” or “maybe he will die,” supporting her assertions by stating that Trump, who is four years younger than Biden, is “not a young mind.”
She concluded that their support showed a desire to be closer to the Oval Office should something happen to Trump that prevents him from serving as President.
Psaki added that some were supporting Trump because they feared “the mob,” mentioning Republican Senator Mitch McConnell (Kentucky) and Bill Barr while others, like Republican Senator Tim Scott (South Carolina), only supported Trump in hopes they would become his running mate.
In response to Psaki’s remarks, Karoline Leavitt, National Press Secretary for the Trump campaign, suggested Psaki was “suffering” from severe “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Leavitt stated “Democrats like Jen Psaki” would rather wish “Trump would die in prison” because they knew President Joe Biden didn’t have a chance to win in November “fair and square.”
