(TheRedWire.com) – On Wednesday, Former Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger endorsed President Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential election. Kinzinger, who had once been the Illinois representative, has become one of former President Donald Trump’s most vocal critics following the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack and Trump’s continuous unfounded claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.
Kinzinger was also one of the 10 House GOP Representatives who had voted in favor of Trump’s impeachment after the Capitol attack.
In his latest post on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Kinzinger expressed his support for Biden. As he wrote he is a “proud conservative” who has always placed the Constitution above all else, which is why he is endorsing Biden for re-election. His declaration was part of a video that was posted on his account.
He added that while there were issues he did not agree with Biden on, and he had never believed that he would endorse a Democrat for the White House, he thinks that Biden is going to be the candidate that will “protect” the U.S. democracy.
He also warned against a possible second Trump presidency noting that he would be a direct threat to all American values. He added that he does not care about Americans and only cares about himself. Finally, he noted that Trump would do everything in his pursuit of power.
Biden took to X to respond to the endorsement noting that placing your country over your political party looks like what Kinzinger did. He also expressed appreciation for his backing.
