(TheRedWire.com) – On Wednesday House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) subpoenaed the FBI for a document, that he and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) are alleging includes detailed information about an “alleged criminal scheme” between a foreign national and President Biden during his time as vice president.

The Republicans have been probing into the foreign business activities of Hunter Biden, President Biden’s son, and in particular, the extent to which Hunter Biden had used his father’s position as vice president for his benefit. The subpoena, along with a letter from the Oversight chairman and Grassley to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland included more information about the claims that the two Republicans are making.

While they did not directly accuse the president of being involved in a criminal scheme, they do allege that the FBI has an unclassified FD-1023 document in which information about an unspecified “alleged criminal scheme” involves an “exchange of money for policy decisions.”

Grassley in his own statement has stated that currently what they have been unable to decipher is whether or not the FBI has tried to investigate these claims and verify their validity. This is why they are looking to gain access to the documents so that they can see what it says.

During a Fox News interview, Grassley also noted that this request is completely separate from the request for documents from the State Department for the probe into Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
