(TheRedWire.com) – In late April, Juliet Harvey-Bolia, a Republican New Hampshire state representative endorsed former President Donald Trump during a packed rally in Manchester. However, on Tuesday, Never Back Down, a super back supporting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, officials announced that Harvey-Bolia was supporting DeSantis.
If this information is true, then Harvey-Bolia would join three other New Hampshire legislators, Reps. Brian Cole, Lisa Smart, and Debra DiSimone, who according to Never Back Down have switched and are now endorsing not Trump but rather DeSantis. This was after the PAC revealed that 51 lawmakers in the state had signed a pledge to support DeSantis.
However, Harvey-Bolia does not see herself as having switched. In a phone interview, she remarked that she is endorsing both of them and that she believes DeSantis had great potential for the future while Trump is “great now.”
Smart, in her own comments on Tuesday stated that she continued to support Trump and was dropping her support for DeSantis. In a statement given to NBC News, Smart stated that her support for Trump was unchanged and that she was proud to be endorsing him. She added that she was “dismayed by the games” that Never Back Down has played and is not endorsing DeSantis or in any way participating in his potential campaign.
DeSantis has not yet announced officially that he would be joining the 2024 presidential campaign. These two statements by the representatives have changed the levels of support that DeSantis has as he is heading into potentially announcing his bid for the White House. Last week, his super PAC revealed that he had also been endorsed by 37 Iowa legislators.
