(TheRedWire.com) – For over a year, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has taken President Joe Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci to task over their COVID-19 policies and mandates. In October 2020, DeSantis was the first governor to reopen his state fully. He was also the first governor to lift all masking requirements and refused to allow local communities and school districts to implement their own COVID rules. On Monday, March 7, DeSantis said there was a large gap between the mandates Democrats inflicted on their states and what COVID data indicated was medically necessary.
At a roundtable discussion with physicians, the Florida governor and several physicians said the data touted by Fauci and the liberal media didn’t warrant the lockdowns and restrictions enacted by Democratic governors and legislatures over the last two years. DeSantis noted the data led him to reopen businesses, open schools, remove masks, and fight against vaccine mandates. With that in mind, the governor noted he doesn’t know what data Biden and Fauci consulted to make their decisions.

DeSantis said Florida citizens wanted their rights respected and appreciated the state’s forthright treatment of the data and their freedom. The governor noted that he was also open about what the government could and could not do despite a highly contagious respiratory virus.
DeSantis and Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo pointed out that leaders and residents of blue states visited Florida, taking advantages of the state’s many freedoms as opposed to the harsh restrictions enacted in their home states. The two Floridian leaders also took a moment to satirically thank the Democrats for entertaining them throughout the pandemic.
