(TheRedWire.com) – On Friday, the Kremlin announced a list of 500 people who were blocked from entering its territory. Russia first placed sanctions on both travel and the finances of 963 Americans last summer, following the U.S. placing strict sanctions on the country after they invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

Many of the people that are on the list are also enemies of former President Donald Trump who do not appear to have any connection to Ukraine or Russian policy. This list was also noted as a response to the sanctions placed by the U.S. following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ new list includes many important Republicans, including Senators Katie Britt of Alabama and J.D. Vance of Ohio, as well as Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Still, many of the people being punished by the list were high-profile enemies of Trump, who has throughout the war avoided taking a stance against Putin and has often complemented the Russian President.

Among those on the list are Trump’s enemies are New York Attorney General Letitia James, who has sued Trump and his family for fraud, and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who did not agree to find the votes necessary to overturn the 2020 presidential election following Trump’s request.

Special counsel Jack Smith, who is overseeing the Department of Justice’s two cases against Trump, one concerning his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, and the second dealing with the potential mishandling of classified documents, was also sanctioned.
