(TheRedWire.com) – On Sunday, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) argued that both parties’ presidential candidates should be willing to take cognitive tests as the presidential election in November is approaching.
During an interview on NBC News’s “Meet the Press” with Kristen Welker, he argued that he would be happy to see both President Biden and former President Donald Trump take cognitive tests. This statement was made in response to a question about whether or not Biden should have to take a cognitive test.
Schiff argued that they both needed to be willing to take such a test. He added that he believes such a test is going to show that Trump has “a serious illness of one kind or another.” The recent interview by the lawmaker comes following the pressure on Biden to prove that he continues to be up for the president’s task following a difficult debate which has led to calls in the party pushing for him to potentially step aside.
On Friday, Biden in an interview with ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos pushed back against the possibility of him undergoing a medical evaluation that would include cognitive testing. Biden argued that every single day he had a cognitive test with everything that he was doing. He added that earlier that day he had spoken with the new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
However, Stephanopoulos continued with his questioning, asking whether or not Biden had the physical and mental capacity to continue with his work for another four years.
In response, Biden argued that he believes he does and would not be running for office if he did not think that to be the case.
