(TheRedWire.com) – Many Senior Democratic lawmakers have been critical of the House for passing the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Rep. Jerry Nadler and Rep. Suzanne Bonamici who opposed the act said that its enactment could bring harm to infants.

According to the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act doctors would be required to provide medical care to infants who were born alive due to a failure of the abortion procedure.

Many Democrats have considered this bill to be extreme. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY, and Vice President Kamala Harris were among the most vocal opposition to the bill.

Pelosi took to Twitter after the vote on the bill and noted the House Republicans had managed to push their anti-choice agenda and that this could significantly limit access to reproductive health services.

Pelosi said that the Democrats would always support women’s right to choose and even stay with their families. She wrote that defending reproductive freedom against extremism is necessary.

Similarly, Schumer, who belongs to the upper chamber and thus did not get to vote on whether or not this bill should pass said that the MAGA-controlled House was clearly exhibiting their views regarding reproductive education. He further noted that bills like this do not even have the support of the American people when they are passed.

Vice President Kamala Harris similarly took to Twitter to call this another attempt by the GOP to control the female body. She added that this bill could really endanger reproductive rights within the country.
