Sen Rand Paul Calls for Polygraph for General Milley

(TheRedWire.com) – Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley is accused of some potentially serious crimes in an excerpt from famed journalist Bob Woodward’s new book, Peril. Among the allegations, the general:

  • Went behind former President Donald Trump’s back and improperly communicated with the Chinese
  • Coordinated information outside of the chain of command with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
  • Asked senior military officers to swear an oath to him.

On Wednesday, September 15, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) called for some firm measures to get to the truth. He said an investigation into Milley’s potential actions should happen immediately. The conservative Senator added that the general should be questioned under oath and subjected to a polygraph like intelligence officials. In addition, the Kentuckian said that the question most important to him is, did the general call a foreign government in defiance of the chain of command?

If the report turns out to be accurate, Paul suggested President Biden should remove the chairman of the joint chiefs immediately from his command and that he should be court-martialed. The Senator added that the reported behavior was “treasonous.” Paul acknowledged that the allegations are rumors and insinuations at this point, and maybe even propaganda. Still, he said the only way to know for sure is to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Either way, America can’t allow generals to overturn elections and usurp civilian authority.
