(TheRedWire.com) – If there were ever a time to send a message, it was at Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was spotted wearing a mask that read, “Come and Take It.” The reference was in response to Biden’s promises to end the manufacture and sales of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. The new president also proposed to bring AR-15s and AK-47s under the National Firearms Act, which would add a $200 tax ticket to the price of one of the popular rifles.

The term comes from an incident in 1835 at the beginning of the Texas Revolution when Mexican General Santa Anna ordered Texans to give up the small cannons they needed to protect their lives and homes. When they refused, Santa Anna returned, determined to use force to take them. However, Texans rallied to protect one another. They raised a flag with the four words as a challenge to the Mexican general — “Come and Take It!”
It remains to be seen what the Biden administration will do to control American’s desire for self-protection. However, one can rest assured they will seek legal remedies in the courts if Biden attempts to subvert the 2nd Amendment.
