(TheRedWire.com) – On Tuesday, during an interview on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show” Stephen A. Smith called out the Democratic party for depending on someone in their 80s to defeat former President Donald Trump in the general election.
Smith argued that it was disgraceful that they were “begging” an octogenarian to run in the race. He proceeded to question what they had been doing which resulted in them relying on an 82-year-old to defeat a 78-year-old man who was facing over 91 criminal counts in four different cases.
Smith proceeded to say that this was not Biden running against Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, or even Chris Christie and yet they needed someone in their 80s because in the last six to seven years they have not been able to come up with an alternative candidate that would be capable of beating the former President.
He added that this was the “ultimate indictment” against the Democrats and that they have dropped the ball on many key issues that he had previously told some Democrats that they needed to face.
Stern, who is a vocal critic of the former President, told Smith that he disagreed with his assessment and argued that this did not have anything to do with candidates as there were many “fine candidates.”
Stern proceeded to say that the country had gone “so berserk” that it was impossible to get qualified people running for office, and that many people were dropping out of the race because they were afraid of the death threats they would receive as soon as they started running for office.
