Man Throws Can of Alcohol at Ted Cruz During Astros World Series Parade

(TheRedWire.com) – Over the last few years, Americans on both sides of the political aisle have grown restless. In some cases, they’ve even publicly attacked politicians using things such as eggs, books, pies, and shoes. On Monday, November 7, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) participated in a World Series victory parade in Houston, Texas, after the Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies for the title. As shown in a video of the incident, as the Senator drove past the crowd standing in the back of a military-style vehicle, someone threw a can of alcohol at the conservative stalwart.

The Houston Police Department reported a beer can hit Cruz in the chest and neck area. Yet, the Senator said it was a can of White Claw, a hard cider adult beverage, not a beer. He also appeared to contradict the assertion the can hit him, as he taunted the would-be assailant for having a “noodle for an arm.”

Police arrested 33-year-old Joseph Halm Arcidiacono and charged him with aggravated assault. The Senator thanked law enforcement in his tweet. Over the years, Cruz has faced numerous hostile actors. He was once verbally berated at a Houston sushi restaurant and castigated at an Italian bistro in Washington, DC.
