(TheRedWire.com) – Senator Ted Cruz, a prominent figure in the Republican party, asserted the credibility of whistleblowers from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) who provided testimony about the Biden family. Highlighting that one of the whistleblowers has a long-standing career in government service and identifies as a gay Democrat married to a man, he saw no basis for doubting their statements.
The Republican-led House Committee is investigating President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. The committee focuses on purported illegal activities related to Hunter Biden’s international business endeavors. This includes an examination of his role on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company, and his business and financial interactions with foreign bodies.
In the latest episode of his podcast, Verdict, released on Monday, Cruz dedicated time to discuss the revelations from the IRS whistleblowers and the potential implications for U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, should these allegations be proven true.
During this episode, Cruz referred to Gary Shapley, one of the whistleblowers who had shared to the House Ways & Means Committee in a deposition on May 26 that he possessed evidence suggesting the Department of Justice had prolonged the investigation into Hunter Biden, providing biased treatment throughout the process. Cruz asserted there’s no basis to doubt the veracity of Shapley or the other whistleblowers’ statements.
Cruz emphasized that both whistleblowers are seasoned IRS employees, and there is no indication that either of them supports the Republican party. Cruz pointed out that one of them is a Democrat, openly gay, and married to a man.
