(TheRedWire.com) – Chairman James Comer of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee has declared that he is initiating the process of subpoenaing relatives and close associates of President Joe Biden as part of an inquiry into the family’s international business engagements and the President’s alleged involvement.
The individuals summoned for depositions include Hunter Biden, the President’s son; James Biden, his brother; and Rob Walker, a partner of the Biden family. Comer is also preparing to ask other members of the Biden family and their associates for transcribed interviews and intends to issue more subpoenas later in the week.
Sara Biden, James Biden’s spouse; Hallie Biden, the widow of the President’s late son, Beau Biden; Elizabeth Secundy, sister of Hallie Biden; Melissa Cohen, Hunter Biden’s wife; and Tony Bobulinski, a former business partner of Hunter Biden, are also set to receive subpoenas.
Comer claims that the Oversight Committee’s investigation has constructed a body of evidence suggesting that President Biden was knowledgeable of, participated in, and gained from the family’s “influence peddling operations.” He asserts that the committee’s financial investigation reveals the Bidens’ involvement in establishing over twenty shell companies, primarily during Biden’s vice presidency, purportedly to obscure payments from foreign entities.
The Chairman’s statement details that the Biden family and their partners received substantial funds from various foreign nationals over several years, including from countries such as China, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, and Kazakhstan. It is claimed that the Bidens employed complex financial maneuvers to mask the origins and amounts of foreign funds received. The committee also mentions discovering checks labeled as ‘loan repayments’ from James and Sara Biden to Joe Biden, which Comer suggests are tied to money laundering from China and domestic dealings.
Despite requests for documentation from the White House regarding these loans, Comer notes that the administration has not provided the requested proof, fueling further scrutiny by the Oversight Committee. The investigation is set to continue as the committee seeks to ensure transparency and hold those involved accountable, as per Comer’s commitment to the American public.
