(TheRedWire.com) – On Saturday, leading political strategist and Democrat fundraiser Dmitri Mehlhorn had emailed journalists to suggest that the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump was possibly “staged.” Following that email Mehlhorn has since issued an apology for casting doubts about the event.
Semafor in its report noted that Mehlhorn had sent out an email on Saturday evening which had been addressed to several journalists urging them to consider the “possibility” that the shooting against Trump might have potentially been staged so that Trump could benefit from the backlash and get the photos from the attack. He added that while such practices are not common in the United States, they are common in other nations.
As an example, he brought up the false flag attacks that had often been used by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 1999 when he was trying to seize power. He noted that other such examples of doing an evil act and then benefitting from it, include the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas.
However, he did continue by stating that there is also the possibility that this is some “crazy anti-Trumper” who just chose to try and assassinate the former President.
Local enforcement authorities have stated that the shooter, who was killed during the incident, was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. Authorities have so far not revealed what his motivation for the act was and the investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Mehlhorn, in his statements, pointed out that it is important to ask questions when such incidents unfold, and that when they are proved to not be staged they should respond appropriately.
