Newt Gingrich Points Out Pelosi’s Responsibility in Dem Firings
(TheRedWire.com) – On November 21, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has confirmed his intention to boot at least three Democrats off of committee posts if Republicans make him Speaker of The House in January. During an appearance on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” McCarthy said he intended to remove Representatives Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Adam Schiff (D-CA) from the House Intelligence Committee, citing bias or compromise. He will also seek to strip Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) of her Foreign Affairs Committee assignment over anti-Semitic remarks.
Former Speaker Newt Gingrich also spoke with reporters at Fox later the same day. He agreed with McCarthy and laid the blame for each man’s political demise squarely at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) feet.
Gingrich said he believes Pelosi “set the precedent.” He stated that the House Speaker decided who could and couldn’t sit on several committees, something Gingrich said no one had ever done. He argued that Democrats have no right to complain and that the three McCarthy singled out deserve to be removed.

After the announcement, all three Democrats blasted the potential incoming Speaker. Omar called the move a mission of fear, labeling it Islamophobia, xenophobia, and racism. Schiff blasted McCarthy for being a “weak leader” who would adhere to GOP extremist wishes. Swalwell told NBC News to talk with him if the current Minority Leader becomes the Speaker.
