(TheRedWire.com) – On Sunday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Georgia) claimed that the Democrats had a “passion” for stealing elections during a segment on “Sunday Morning Futures.” However, these claims were not backed by any evidence, instead they followed in line with the comments that former President Trump frequently makes.
During a segment of the show, Fox News host asked Gingrich if the Republicans were taking enough action to “ensure a free and fair election in 2024.” In response, he stated that under the election laws that are currently in place, it is not possible to have an “accurate election.” He proceeded to say that for Republicans, the only thing they can do is pick the issues they will focus on and then win by large enough margins that the Democrats will not be able to steal the elections. He added that the Democrats “have a passion for stealing them.”
In his remarks, he also noted how in many Republican states, there was a strengthening of election law but that the same could not be said for Democratic states like New York, Illinois, and California. This was why he alleged that it was safe to assume that they would “steal as much” as possible.
Former President Donald Trump had also previously claimed without any evidence that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. His claims of unproven election voter fraud contributed to the events that led to the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, when Trump supporters entered the Capitol in an attempt to stop the certification of the election.
