(TheRedWire.com) – Moderate Democrats were left licking their wounds after the November 2020 elections. It was a year when Democrats hoped to expand their majorities in the House. Not only didn’t that happen, but they also lost 16 seats to Republicans. On the flip side, not a single House GOP member lost. The Democrats’ poor showing earned the party the smallest House majority in nearly a century. Now, one of the top Moderates who complained in November is in for a heated race with a Republican challenger in 2022.
This central Virginia congressional race against Rep. Spanberger will be one to watch. https://t.co/vX5o2cbL2C

Two-term Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) warned her caucus the party’s move to the left would be devastating moving forward. She blamed the “defund the police” movement and the GOP’s successful branding of Democrats as Socialists as the primary culprits. Now, she’s got a tough race on her hands as Republican Taylor Keeney says she will no longer sit on the sidelines and watch Spanberger capitulate to left-wing Democrats.
The Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) believes Spanberger is highly vulnerable. Virginia’s 7th Congressional District winner could help determine which party controls the US House of Representatives come January 2023.
