(TheRedWire.com) – Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., has proposed federal legislation that would ban abortions across the country in every single one of the five full Congress sessions dating back to 2013, however, this year he has not yet introduced a possible abortion ban.

In the past decade, Graham had sought legislation that would ban abortions after the 20th week of gestation. In 2022 he changed this legislation calling for the abortion ban to be up to the 15th week of pregnancy. The latest introduction was only two months before the midterm elections this year.

Up until this point, the Senator has never waited to file the abortion ban, however in December when he was asked about it he had argued that this was not even something that he had thought about. He continued by pointing out that the Senate was currently still in the process of having negotiations about immigration and Ukraine aid, and that when it came to the ban proposal, he would eventually put one forward, but that it would most likely be in 2024.

Last week his office had informed NBC News that it did not have any updates on when Graham would be putting forward an abortion ban this year. Rep. Christopher Smith, R-N.J., office has pushed forward a similar bill in the House but has not made any comments regarding this.

Graham has not introduced an abortion bill after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade which could potentially give the GOP more space to impose an abortion ban.
