(TheRedWire.com) – President Donald Trump’s administration, through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is defending Californians from their state’s violation of their First Amendment religious freedom right and the so-called Weldon Amendment — protection against being required to “provide, pay for, or provide coverage for abortions.” The state requires all health insurance plans, without exception, to cover voluntary abortion as “basic healthcare.”
The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) division of HHS has announced that it will disallow $200 million in federal Medicaid funding per quarter until California complies with federal law. Because there is no exception for organizations whose members’ closely held beliefs prohibit taking a baby’s life, the state law conflicts with the “free exercise” of one’s religion guaranteed in the Constitution.

Under Governor Gavin Newsom (D), the current regime is attempting to impose their Socialist/Communist agenda upon all their citizens regardless of protections outlined in the Bill of Rights.
