(TheRedWire.com) – On Wednesday during the town hall hosted by CNN, former President Donald Trump took a jab at moderator Kaitlan Collins calling her a “nasty person.”

Around one hour into the event, while Collins was asking Trump about the case regarding the classified documents recovered from his Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump defended himself by claiming he had “the right” to declassify the records. Collins proceeded to question him further about his refusal to comply with the subpoena and the requests by the National Archives.

This was the moment when the question turned heated, with Trump asking “Are you ready? Can I talk?”

Collins replied saying that she would like to have an answer to her question.

To which Trump stated that the answer was “very simple.”

When Collins responded “That’s why I asked it,” Trump went ahead and told her the answer was “very simple — you’re a nasty person.”

The crowd which was mostly made up of Republican voters started cheering for Trump. The former President proceeded to state that they were negotiating with the NARA, adding that when they were leaving the White House it was well known that they were taking these boxes. He added that in the midst of the negotiations, his house was suddenly raided.

A CNN spokesperson defended Collins’ lack of response to Trump’s direct attack by noting that she showcased what it really “means to be a world-class journalist.”

Trump and President Joe Biden are facing investigations regarding the classified documents that were found in their respective estates.
