(TheRedWire.com) – On Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris blasted former President Trump over his recent comments that immigrants were “poisoning the blood” of the United States, arguing that this type of rhetoric was extremely similar to the one that the Nazi leader, Adolf Hitler had been using.

In an appearance on Lawrence O’Donnell MSNBC show, Harris was asked about the remarks that Trump had made, especially considering her own background as someone who is the daughter of immigrants and is biracial.

In response, Harris noted that she had always been raised to know that there were going to be people in the world who would attempt to use their voices in a way that would try to “dehumanize” others. She added that while this type of rhetoric is trying to push the idea that the majority of people did not have things in common, in reality, the majority of people have more things uniting them rather than separating them. She pointed out that her interpretation of the comments was that these were remarks and language that were meant to divide the people in the country.

Harris continued by arguing that the language that had been used by Trump was extremely similar to the one that Hitler had used. She added that this was why it was critical for them to keep reminding each other that leaders were not meant to be people who beat others down but rather people who would lift others.

Following her recent comments, Harris became the highest-ranking Democratic official to have made comments publicly comparing Trump and Hitler’s rhetoric. Similar comments had also been made by the Biden campaign and several other White House aides.
