Mitch McConnell TARGETED – Trump Drops the Hammer!
(TheRedWire.com) – Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) told reporters that he believes the House of Representatives is more likely to flip in November than the Senate, citing the quality of the Republicans on the ballot as the reason. The senator’s comments, seemingly referring to “MAGA” candidates, drew former President Donald Trump’s attention, eliciting a message from him on his social media platform, TruthSocial.
McConnell told reporters that Senate races are different and require a more balanced approach. Without mentioning specific names or races, the lawmaker pointed out that candidates whose ideas may seem great in their hometown may not fare as well in state-wide elections.
In response, Trump referred to the minority leader as a “broken down hack” and asked other Republican Senators why they allowed him to exert any influence. He also claimed McConnell and his wife “get rich on China” and called for the party to question the amount of time and money the aging senator spends helping candidates with struggling campaigns instead of disparaging them.
Trump’s harsh words towards McConnell are nothing new. The two men have a longstanding history of public disagreements. In this instance, the former president seems to disagree with the minority leader’s assessment of the GOP’s ability to retake the Senate during the November elections.
