(TheRedWire.com) – On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump claimed that it was “very possible” his political opponents might face prosecution following his recent conviction in the New York hush money trial.

Trump argued that his prosecution might have opened up the door to having one’s political opponents targeted. This is a point that he has repeatedly made since he was first charged in the four separate criminal cases last year.

Trump, who is the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election, questioned whether this would mean that the next president would be doing the same thing to them.

He continued by pointing out that they were setting up a bad situation where the former secretary of state, the president, and even the president’s wife could end up in jail. He added that it is very possible that this would happen to them.

Last week Trump was found by a 12-person jury in New York to be guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a payment intended to silence adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Trump and his legal team have repeatedly stated that they would be appealing this decision.

After the verdict, Trump argued that his legal woes had been planned out by President Joe Biden, however despite Trump’s claims there is currently no evidence to suggest that Biden had played any role in the case in New York. Attorney General Merrick Garland has also warned against Trump’s rhetoric arguing that it is “dangerous.”
