(TheRedWire.com) – Former President Trump in his latest speech on Sunday to Michigan Republicans took aim against the election system in the country.

In his speech Trump focused a lot on his work to save the steel industry in Michigan during his last administration, pointing out that he had placed tariffs on foreign aluminum and steel.

He proceeded to argue that without steel, there was no country, and no borders or real elections. As he stated in the U.S. there are only “fake elections.” These claims have echoed Trump’s previous unfounded false allegations about the 2020 presidential election being stolen from him.

Trump added that he wanted the U.S. to have same-day voting on Election Day, paper ballots, and a voter ID requirement. However, he argues that these are all pushed back by the Democrats who want to “cheat” in elections and these measures would not allow them to.

Many of Trump’s allies have also perpetuated his claims about the 2020 presidential election being stolen because of widespread voter election fraud. However, there is no evidence to suggest that was the case. A poll last year also found that 40 percent of Republicans had argued that if the GOP did not win back control of Congress in the 2022 midterm elections, they would place the blame on voter fraud.

This month, in a different survey it was revealed that three out of ten Americans believe that President Biden won the 2020 presidential election because of voter fraud.
