(TheRedWire.com) – On Monday, former President Donald Trump predicted that despite the recent calls by Democratic lawmakers for President Joe Biden to exit the race, he would continue in the presidential race. Following the first presidential debate late last month, where Biden had performed poorly, there has been an influx of Democrats calling for him to step down.
In an interview on Fox News, Trump told Sean Hannity that it appeared to him that Biden would remain in the race. He added that the president has an “ego” and doesn’t want to quit.” He continued by arguing that First Lady Jill Biden also appeared to want to see Joe Biden stay in the race as she looked like she was “having a good time.”
Trump argued that Biden would most likely stay in the race, especially as no one wanted to withdraw in such a way, but that Biden would likely feel bad about himself for a long time. He added that it was hard for someone to give up in the way that they were pushing for Biden to drop out.
Trump, who is the 2024 Republican presumptive nominee, is also the first U.S. president to have been criminally charged in connection to his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential elections. When referring to the possibility of Joe Biden dropping out, he pointed out that Vice President Kamala Harris would likely end up being the nominee, but he did point out that “all the power” is with Biden as he was the one capable of securing the majority during the primary voting.
Following the debate on June 27, Biden has faced a lot of scrutiny from Democrats. During the debate, Biden appeared to be struggling with forming full arguments.
