(TheRedWire.com) – On Sunday, former President Donald Trump visited the U.S. Southern border, where he once again spoke about the hard-line immigration policies he would follow if he won back the White House.
Trump argued during the event that President Biden’s time in office has led to the border not being secure at all and has enabled “gangs of thugs” to enter the United States. As he stated, if he returns to the White House, he will be taking over the U.S. southern border to ensure that it will be more secure than ever.
Trump, during his remarks in front of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, from whom he has received an endorsement, and a group of border guards reaffirmed that he would bring back the type of policies that he was known for during his first term in office.
For the past few weeks, Trump has been pushing campaign rhetoric claiming that the migrants who enter the United States undocumented are poisoning the country. He further likened his political opponents to “vermin.”
On Sunday, Trump used similar language by talking about migrants being “the enemy.” He further predicted that before the end of the Biden administration, there would be 15 million undocumented migrants who would have entered the United States. This estimate is far higher than the one most nongovernmental groups have forecasted.
Much like Trump, the Texas Governor has also been pushing hard-line immigration policies, including installing a floating barrier across the Rio Grande River.
