(TheRedWire.com) – In a recent interview, Former President Trump claimed that following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, Russian President Vladimir Putin “got a little more ambition.”

In his interview with Mark Levin which aired Sunday on “Life, Liberty & Levin” on Fox News, Trump stated that the withdrawal was “the most embarrassing period” not because of the actual withdrawal, but because of the way it occurred. He further argued that Putin after he saw the chaos most likely “got a little more ambition.”

He added that the U.S. missed out on the opportunity to withdraw from the country “with dignity and strength.”

The U.S. withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021, only a few months after President Biden took over the White House. During the withdrawal, they were able to evacuate approximately 124,000 people, but the chaotic nature of the event has led to the Biden administration coming under a lot of scrutiny.

During the interview, Trump suggested that Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley “should be court-martialed” over the way the withdrawal occurred. He added that it was a mistake to have “the soldiers come out first” and that even a five-year-old child would have been able to tell you that “the soldiers come out last.”

Trump’s appearance on Levin’s program was part of the promotion of his new book, “Letters to Trump,” which includes Trump’s correspondence with many high-profile political and celebrity figures. As Levin points out the correspondence includes letters “from Putin, from Xi, from Un in North Korea.”
