(TheRedWire.com) – On Sunday, former President Donald Trump stated that his wife Melania Trump, the former first lady, had found the criminal trial and conviction against him to be “very hard” as there were testimonies where his alleged infidelity had been recounted.
On Thursday Trump was convicted of falsifying business documents on all 34 felony counts. This is the first time that a former U.S. president has been convicted and Trump has already appealed the ruling.
The charges filed against Trump all relate to his alleged attempts to hide a hush money payment that had been made on his behalf weeks before the 2016 presidential election in an attempt to hide his alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels. However, Trump has repeatedly denied the affair, which supposedly took place in 2006 at a celebrity golf tournament.
In 2006, Trump had only been married to his wife Melania for a bit over a year and their son Barron would have only been a few months old.
During an exclusive interview on “Fox and Friends” Trump stated about Melania that while she was “fine” this experience has been “very hard” on her. He added that there were ways in which the trial was actually harder on his family than it had been on him.
Trump continued by pointing out that his wife was wonderful but they were repeatedly making her listen to these types of things. He added that throughout this time he has not been allowed to defend himself against these salacious names because of the gag order.
