(TheRedWire.com) – Former President Donald Trump blasted President Biden over his alleged betrayal of Cubans.
Trump pointed out that Cuba, which had two years ago had the most significant mass protest against the communist regime in almost 30 years, was not warming its relations with China. Recently it was reported that China would be building a military base on the island located 90 miles away from the coast of Florida.
In a statement released on his campaign website, Trump pointed out that July 11 was the anniversary of the large protest in the country. As he pointed out, President Biden’s betrayal of Cuba has led to the country surrendering to communist China. Trump argued that this had enabled China to build a military base within 90 miles of the U.S. shores, which could be a national security risk for the country.
He added that under his administration, Cuban Americans had been close to achieving their wish for freedom. Obama’s administration made many policy changes in the handling of Cuba, allowing the country to resume its diplomatic ties, trade, and travel to Cuba once again be allowed. However, all of these were reversed by Trump, who 2017 prohibited commerce with any business that is either controlled or connected to the Cuban military, security services, and other intelligence agencies.
Americans were also not allowed to travel to Cuba for either cultural or educational programs. The Biden campaign has loosened many of the Trump administration’s restrictions on the country.
