(TheRedWire.com) – Following former President Donald Trump’s third indictment, many Republican voters have rallied in support of Trump, who is the frontrunner in the 2024 Republican presidential primary race. On Thursday, Trump was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to four charges connected to his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
Trump delivered his first speech following his arraignment to Montgomery, Alabama, during the Republican Party’s summer meeting.
Fox News Digital asked attendees about Trump’s indictment. One attendee, Mike, questioned whether they were severe and argued that Trump is the best U.S. President in U.S. history and was even better than former President Ronald Reagan.
Attendees C.J. and Julie were also excitedly supporting Trump shouting his name. When talking with the outlet, C.J. specifically questioned who else they could help, arguing that Trump was great for the economy and immigration. He then added that Biden had performed horribly and damaged the country, so they needed to run for the Trump administration.
Many other attendees also shared this opinion and support of Trump. However, Alabama State Sen. Lance Bell stated that he had not yet decided whom to support but had said that the charges against Trump made him more likely to support the former President because they were evidence of political prosecution. He added that the authorities were generally allowing Trump to get more support. This was a point that many attendees also agreed with.
