(TheRedWire.com) – Republican voters became disenchanted with what appeared to be a double standard between Democrats and Republicans by federal law enforcement officials during the 2016 presidential campaign. In July 2016, then-FBI Director James Comey went on television to make the case that Hillary Clinton broke the law over her email scandal. However, due to political reasons, the Department of Justice refused to charge her with a crime. The frustration boiled over into “lock her up” chants at massive Trump rallies.
On Saturday, June 26, Republican supporters revived the chant, targeting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

Speaking at a “Save America” rally in Wellington, Ohio, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said Pelosi denied the people their right to petition their government and members of Congress. A chorus of boos broke out, followed up by the “lock her up” chants.
It’s not the first time crowds directed the chant at Pelosi. It gained momentum after the Speaker ripped up former President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech in January 2020. The disgraceful act was caught on camera after Trump’s national speech before Congress. Many conservatives and GOP members won’t quickly forget that infamous act of disrespect to the Office of the President of the United States and a sitting president.
