Trump's Actions Targeted as Justice Department's Investigation Proceeds

Top Republican Under INVESTIGATION – This Could Be Bad

( – Over the last year, the House January 6 Select Committee has conducted a partisan investigation against former President Donald Trump. Now, America is learning that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is also executing a criminal probe. Apparently, investigators want to know what actions the former president might have taken and what correspondence he may have written to support the claim he tried to overturn the 2020 election.

On Tuesday, July 26, The Washington Post reported that prosecutors are questioning witnesses in front of a grand jury. They want to know about the conversations between the president, his lawyers, and his inner circle regarding alternate electors in states that voted for Biden. The government attorneys say they want to know what instructions Trump gave his attorneys and advisors regarding those Electoral College members.

Former Vice President Mike Pence’s Chief of Staff, Marc Short, told Fox News he met with the grand jury in Washington, DC, but said he couldn’t provide any details about the interview. The Post said the government obtained phone records of several senior Trump officials, including former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. Additionally, the DOJ is investigating Trump’s former lawyers, John Eastman and Rudy Guiliani.

Ahead of the Post’s report, Attorney General Merrick Garland told NBC Nightly News he didn’t rule out the possibility the Justice Department would prosecute Trump. He said regardless of the politics, the DOJ would work “without fear or favor.”
