New York Post Disses Trump – Calls Him “Florida Man”

(TheRedWire.com) – Many in the conservative media got behind then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in 2016. Since he left office in January 2021, the relationship between media titan Rupert Murdoch and the former president has deteriorated. On Tuesday, November 15, Trump declared he was running for the White House for the third time. The following morning, the New York Post, which Murdoch owns, barely mentioned the announcement and refused to refer to Trump by name.

At the bottom of the front page, the Post simply said in a banner, “Florida Man Makes Announcement.” The paper placed the story on page 26 of the newspaper. It declared that the country had been there and done that. In the wake of disappointing 2022 midterm elections for Republicans, many of whom Trump endorsed, conservative media outlets and pundits have called for new leadership to replace him.

The day after the November 8 midterm elections, the paper went all in on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, calling him “DeFuture.” Trump responded that the New York Post was “no longer great” and was all in for “Gov. Ron DeSanctimonious.”

The following day, the conservative outlet referred to the former president as “Trumpty Dumpty” on the front page. Murdoch also owns the Wall Street Journal, whose editorial board stated the aspiring 2024 White House hopeful as the midterm election’s “biggest loser,” having lost big in 2018, 2020, 2021, and now 2022.

Will the “Florida man” respond?
